Neutrinos from GRBs with ANTARES

A search for muon neutrinos in coincidence with gamma-ray bursts with the ANTARES neutrino detector using data from the end of 2007 to 2011 is performed. Expected neutrino fluxes are calculated for each burst individually. The most recent numerical calculations of the spectra using the NeuCosmA code are employed, which include Monte Carlo simulations of the full underlying photohadronic interaction processes. The discovery probability for a selection of 296 gamma-ray bursts in the given period is optimised using an extended maximum-likelihood strategy. Baryon Acoustic Oscillations in LRGs

Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) have been previously detected using correlation functions and power spectra of the galaxy distribution. In this work, we present a new method for the detection of the real-space structures associated with this feature. These baryon acoustic structures are spherical shells with a relatively small density contrast, surrounding high density central regions. We design a specific wavelet adapted to the search for shells, and exploit the physics of the process by making use of two different mass tracers, introducing a specific statistic to detect the BAO features. Galaxy clusters from SDSS DR8

The study of the signatures of multimodality in groups and clusters of galaxies, an environment for most of the galaxies in the Universe, gives us information about the dynamical state of clusters and about merging processes, which affect the formation and evolution of galaxies, groups and clusters, and larger structures - superclusters of galaxies and the whole cosmic web. We search for the presence of substructure, a non-Gaussian, asymmetrical velocity distribution of galaxies, and large peculiar velocities of the main galaxies in clusters with at least 50 member galaxies, drawn from the SDSS DR8. Finite groups with all minimal subgroups solitary

We give a complete classification of the finite groups with a unique subgroup of order p for each prime p dividing its order. All the groups considered in this paper will be finite. One of the most fruitful lines in the research in abstract group theory during the last years has been the study of groups in which the members of a certain family of subgroups satisfy a certain subgroup embedding property. The family of the subgroups of prime order (also called minimal subgroups) has attracted the interest of many mathematicians. Measurement of the average shape of longitudinal profiles of cosmic-ray air showers at the Pierre Auger Observatory

The profile of the longitudinal development of showers produced by ultra-high energy cosmic rays carries information related to the interaction properties of the primary particles with atmospheric nuclei. In this work, we present the first measurement of the average shower profile in traversed atmospheric depth at the Pierre Auger Observatory. The shapes of profiles are well reproduced by the Gaisser-Hillas parametrization within the range studied, for E>10 17.8 eV .A detailed analysis of the systematic uncertainties is performed using ten years of data and a full detector simulation. L’individu dans son automobile, durant ses déplacements quotidiens, habite d’une façon ou d’une autre l’espace circonscrit dans lequel il se trouve alors. De ce point de vue, il apparaît nécessaire de développer une ethno-sociologie des manières d’habiter son automobile. Pour atteindre cette ambition heuristique, nous préciserons ici les termes de cette méthode que nous nommons « entretien participant ». Hybridant les méthodes de l’entretien et de l’observation participante, l’entretien du rapport de l’individu contemporain à son automobile alternant sans cesse entre réflexivité et routines, entre repli sur soi et disponibilité au monde et à soi.
